About Mary MacGregor
I am a California native who arrived in the desert 15 years ago from the Silicon Valley, continuing my high-tech career in Public Relations until switching to the tumultuous world of real estate six years ago. Because of my long history with Palm Springs, visiting the desert for years before moving here permanently, I`ve witnessed the explosive growth of the Coachella Valley as well as the dramatic shift in property values.
As a golfer, I`ve played many of the Valley`s 100+ courses which helped tremendously when I began selling property in the country clubs. I cover all the desert cities and am enamoured of Palm Springs` unique mid-century architecture. I now focus more exclusively on my hometown of La Quinta since it offers such a rich array of communities:
The Cove, La Quinta`s oldest neighborhood with its colorful Santa Fe-style homes on compact lots encircled by the striking Santa Rosas
North La Quinta`s mid-level family-home neighborhoods, gated and non-gated
South La Quinta`s gated and non-gated communities and country clubs, including Rancho La Quinta CC, Mountain View CC, The Tradition, The Citrus Club, Hidden Canyon, equestrian-themed Griffin Ranch, La Cantera, PGA West, Andalusia at Coral Mountain, The Hideaway, The Quarry, and active-retirement communityTrilogy—many of them nestled along the base of the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountains.
If you are interested in snagging a bargain-priced home, the market downtun continues to provide plenty of opportunities in distress sales—from short sales to bank-owned foreclosures—and I am adept at shepherding these complicated transactions through to a successful close.
The housing market here in the desert pretty much bottomed out in 2009. There are special situations in every community and country club involving short sales and foreclosures but the overall market appears to have stabalized with some communities even seeing price increases.
For many years I wrote a monthly newsletter that has attempted to supply the "big picture" on the Coachella Valley market as well as specific examples of property sales and bargains. Over the past few years, I`ve started writing consumer-oriented blogs in order to impart relevant information on a more timely basis. In addition, I write a monthly newsletter (see home page under Blog and Newsleter) to provide current real estate data, activities of interest, and the latest home bargains.
I`ve also written detailed overviews of some of the most popular country clubs and gated communities which can be found under Featured Communities under the Search Properties button.
